Founder and Portfolio Manager: Dan Rasmussen
Before starting Verdad, Dan worked at Bain Capital and Bridgewater Associates. Dan graduated from Harvard summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa and received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is the New York Times bestselling author of American Uprising: The Untold Story of America’s Largest Slave Revolt. In 2017, he was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list.

Japan Portfolio Manager: Nick Schmitz
Before joining Verdad, Nick worked at Goldman Sachs.  He received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Masters of Philosophy from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Nick served as a Captain in the Marine Corps in Afghanistan and taught Political Science at the US Naval Academy.  He minored in Japanese at the US Naval Academy and has lived in Japan, completing language immersion in Tokyo and working at the Japanese Defense Academy in Yokosuka. Nick has also published academic articles on US Constitutional Law and testified before the US Congress on his research.

Director of Quantitative Research: Brian Chingono
Before joining Verdad, Brian worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors and Credit Suisse. Brian earned an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he concentrated in finance, statistics, and econometrics. As a graduate student, Brian co-authored two research papers related to Verdad’s investment strategy: Leveraged Small Value Equities and Forecasting Debt Paydown Among Leveraged Equities. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard where he concentrated in government with economics as a secondary field.
